Our background checks have been put on hold until further notice due to iimpacts from Hurricanes Helene and Milton; therefore, our volunteer application process is on hold. If you apply after September 24, your application will be processed once our background checks resume processing.
Lake Maggiore Environmental Education Center
The preserve's environmental education center offers interactive exhibits, educational programming, a gift shop, rental opportunities and more.
Terry Tomalin Campground
The preserve has elevated visitors' experiences with the new Terry Tomalin Campground, St. Pete's first public primitive family campground. The campground is named in honor of the late Terry Tomalin, a former Tampa Bay Times outdoors writer and champion of the preserve.
Pinellas Pioneer Settlement
The Pioneer Settlement, located in Boyd Hill Nature Preserve, is a living history museum where visitors can immerse themselves in the skills, crafts, and social customs of late 19th-century life in west central Florida.
